Horizontal Discharge Spa & Hot Tub Pumps

Spa pumps that have a Horizontal Discharge are actually a Side Discharge pump that has had the Wet End (Pump Housing) rotated. If you need a pump that has the Discharge in the Horizontal position you will need to purchase a Side Discharge unit (Vertical Orientation), and rotate the Wet End from the Vertical to the Horizontal Position. Rotating the Wet End is a simple process, that can be completed in 5-10 minutes. To find a Spa Pump to fit your tubs requirements simply purchase the Side Discharge Spa Pump that matches your existing Horsepower, Voltage, & Speed (RPM). Then after delivery of the pump rotate the Wet End. You can also follow the instructions below on how to rotate the Wet End to turn a Side Discharge Spa Pump, in to a Horizontal Discharge Spa Pump.

Follow Our Guide Below To Help You Change A Side Discharge Hot Tub Pump To A Horizontal Discharge.
-Step 1: You will need to find the back of your pump's motor. This will be on the opposite side of the pump's plumbing connections. If your motor has a cover on the back, remove the cover. Typically this can be done with a flat head screwdriver or 1/4 socket & ratchet. If your pump's motor does not have a cover proceed to step 2.
-Step 2: On the back of your pump's motor, there will be four 1/4" drive bolts that run the entire length of the motor casing & connect to the Pump's Wet End assembly. These are in the 10, 2, 5 & 7 O' Clock position. Locate these 4 bolts.
-Step 3: Loosen all four of the 1/4" drive bolts using a ratchet & a 1/4" socket. These are in the 10, 2, 5 & 7 O' Clock position.
-Step 4: Once the four 1/4" drive bolts have been loosened, pull them back a few inches so that they are completely free & clear of the Pump Wet End (other side of Motor). These also can be fully removed if needed.
-Step 5: Now that the 1/4" drive bolts have been loosened & pulled back, grab the Wet End by the discharge port at the top. The Wet End is now free to move in to the Horizontal Discharge position.
-Step 6: Once the Wet End is in the Horizontal Discharge position, simply reinstall the 1/4" drive bolts & motor cover. You have now converted your Vertical Side Discharge Pump, in to a Horizontal Discharge Pump.
